SARDINIA

Located in the heart of Mediterranean, Sardinia is the second largest italian island after Sicily and the third largest region.
Its territory is mainly mountainous with low mountains, large areas still completely wild, left in their natural appearance with forests, deserts and swamps, but also wild horses and deers.
With its magnificent emerald sea, its many bays with white sandy beaches, untouched wilderness and variety of landscapes, local folklore and its medieval castles, the island is a favourite destination for both Italian and international tourism.
The
Emerald Coast with some of its most beautiful resorts, like Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo, is an elegant example where the shades of the sea join ancient traditions of local history, culture and nightlife…Sardinia is lively and beautiful.
Sardinia is surrounded by numerous smaller islands and has many bays such as:

  • Gulf Asinara to the north
  • Gulf of Orosei to the east
  • Gulf of Cagliari to the south
  • Gulf of Oristano to the west

In Sardinia there is the chance to explore the mountains and to discover
Gennargentu, the largest mountain complex in Sardinia, with its fascinating scenery of rich flora and fauna.
The Sardinian cuisine still has Spanish and Arabic influences with predilection for primitive dishes: pork, goat, lamb, roasted with lots of herbs over wood fire. Saffron is the dressing used very often.
Sardinia is also a region of soft and dried cheeses, used as a condiment in many dishes and for cakes.
Many Sardinian
wines goes very well together with the strong and aromatic dishes of the area: red Cannonau, Anghelu Ruju or old Vernaccia are some good examples.
